Where we work

HVAC service areas across western Queens, NY

Woodside is home, and most of what we do is within a few miles of the shop. That is not a marketing radius — it is the reason we can usually get to a no-heat call the same day rather than the day after.

The neighbourhoods

Where our vans actually are

The core of the work is the ring of neighbourhoods around Woodside: Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Astoria, Long Island City, Maspeth, Corona, East Elmhurst, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Middle Village, Ridgewood and Glendale. Flushing and Bayside are routine, and we take commercial contract work across the rest of Queens, into Brooklyn and into Manhattan.

Distance matters for one reason: response time. A no-heat call at eleven at night in February is a different proposition from Woodside than it is from Nassau County, and that is the whole argument for using somebody local rather than the largest name that advertises.

What we see where

The housing stock decides the work

  • Woodside and Sunnyside

Pre-war brick and frame two- and three-family houses, a great deal of one-pipe steam, and buildings with nowhere sensible to run conventional ductwork. This is mini-split and steam-balancing territory, and it is what we know best.

  • Jackson Heights and Elmhurst

Garden apartment co-ops and pre-war buildings with shared plant, plus a dense commercial strip of restaurants and shops with rooftop units and make-up air that has usually never been balanced.

  • Astoria and Long Island City

The widest range: pre-war walk-ups next to new construction with modern VRF systems and centralised ventilation. Two entirely different service problems within one block.

  • Maspeth, Middle Village and Glendale

More detached and semi-detached houses with basements, more conventional ducted systems, and more of the straightforward furnace and central-air work that is the bread and butter of this trade.

  • Rego Park and Forest Hills

Large co-op buildings with central plant and through-wall units, where the interesting question is usually whether the board is ready to modernise and what the alternatives cost over ten years.

  • Corona, East Elmhurst and Ridgewood

Dense two- and three-family housing where separate heating and cooling per unit — and separate bills per unit — is the single most valuable thing an owner can put in.
